NA Vice Chairman receives Australian parliamentarians

National Assembly Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien hosted a reception in Hanoi on July 16 for a delegation of Australian parliamentarians led by the Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on the Parliamentary Library, Rowan Ramsay.

Speaking at the reception, NA Vice Chairman Hien expressed his belief that the visit will help Australian parliamentarians gain a better understanding of Vietnam while they seek chances to promote exchanges between the two countries’ parliamentarians in a practical and effective manner in the time to come, which will help to bolster the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Australia.

The NA Vice Chairman spoke highly of the two legislatures’ establishment of their friendship parliamentarians’ groups and expressed his wish that the groups will cooperate closely to help promote the friendship between the two legislative bodies.

He also emphasised that the increase of exchanges between the two countries’ lawmakers will actively contribute to strengthening the mutual understanding between the parliamentarians and people of the two countries, contributing to fostering bilateral relations through the parliamentary channel.

For his part, Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on the Parliamentary Library, Rowan Ramsay, expressed his wish to continue to develop the relationship between the two countries over the coming time.

He also spoke highly of Vietnam’s active participation in UN peacekeeping missions and its respect for international law in solving the East Sea issues.

On the same day, Secretary General and Chairman of the Office of the NA Nguyen Hanh Phuc received the Australian delegation.
