The PM highly appreciated the outcomes of talks between the leaders of the two countries’ Foreign Ministries, stating that Faurie’s visit contributes to opening a new chapter in Vietnam-Argentina relations.

He suggested that both sides focus on accelerating trade and investment exchanges, noting that there remains room for the two countries to further expand their two-way trade revenues, compared to the modest value of US$3 billion at present.

Expressing his wish to reach a balance in bilateral trade (Vietnam currently poses a trade deficit with Argentina), PM Phuc recommended the two sides’ authorised agencies to organise business forums in order to seek business and investment opportunities in each other’s countries.

He stressed the importance of maintaining the exchange of high-level delegations, while voicing his desire to facilitate cooperation with Argentina in the field of football.

Conveying the regards of Argentine President Mauricio Macri to PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Minister Jorge Faurie stated that the Vietnam-Argentina cooperative relations have been actively growing across all fields over the past 45 years, especially in politics and economics.

He suggested the two sides continue to strengthen economic cooperation and trade exchanges, and further expand the areas of bilateral collaboration. He revealed that Argentina will receive a Vietnamese business delegation this September and that the two sides will also hold a meeting of the Vietnam-Argentina Intergovernmental Committee.

The guest said that during his talks with Deputy PM and FM Pham Binh Minh, the two sides set out several new potential fields for cooperation, including defence. He also affirmed Argentina’s willingness to support Vietnam in terms of football training and development.

PM Phuc expressed his hopes for the fine outcomes of the upcoming meeting of the Vietnam-Argentina Intergovernmental Committee, thereby accelerating bilateral ties and further increasing revenue from two-way trade.
