In his opening remarks, VFF President Tran Thanh Man stated that the VFF at all levels has actively participated in supervisory programmes with a focus on sensitive areas that could give rise to corruption.

He added that the front has implemented a mechanism to receive and handle reports on corruption, wastefulness and moral degradation among government officials and Party members.

However he acknowledged that the VFF’s work has fallen short of the people’s expectations, noting that the people anticipate the front to be more proactive, bolder and to improve its supervisory role.

Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan suggested compiling a handbook containing typical examples of corruption cases that have been uncovered by the VFF’s local chapters, and later dealt with effectively, in order to summarise the experience gained in the fight against corruption.

According to Nguyen Van Hau, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Lawyers’ Association, through a mechanism to supervise the operations of government agencies, the people can give a facts-based assessment of the corruption prevention efforts.

For her part, To Thi Bich Chau, Chairwoman of the VFF in Ho Chi Minh City, stated that the front received feedback from the people through various forms and coordinated with other agencies to deal with the information on suspected corruption activities.
