Deputy PM asks to ensure progress of Long Thanh International Airport project

Deputy Prime Minister, Trinh Dinh Dung, has instructed the implementation of the investment project on the construction of Long Thanh International Airport in the first phase.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Transport shall take the initiative in closely coordinating the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the ministries and agencies concerned in the process of building a feasibility study report for the project on the construction of Long Thanh International Airport in the first phase, as well as ensuring the progress of the submission to the competent authorities for consideration and decision in accordance with the progress of the project and regulations.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment was asked to promptly propose the establishment of a State Appraisal Council after receiving the report submitted by the Ministry of Transport to the Prime Minister. The Long Thanh International Airport Project is an important national-level project of great significance to the socio-economic development of Vietnam.

During the first phase of the project, a runway, a passenger terminal and auxiliary items will be built, with acapacity of 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tonnes of cargo per year. It is expected to be completed and put into operation by 2025 at the latest.
