The session focused on the implementation of the Resolution of the 18th Congress of the provincial Party Committee and the situation of ethnic and religious affairs in the province.

The main targets of the Resolution of the 18th provincial Party Congress have been implemented and have ensured that the progress of five of the 21 targets is beyond the set objectives of the Resolution. From 2016 until now, the province has mobilised investment resources worth over VND8.6 trillion to support ethnic minorities. Due attention has also been paid to social security and poverty reduction for ethnic minority groups, whilst the material and spiritual lives of the people have been markedly improved.

Speaking at the session, Politburo member Truong Thi Mai spoke highly of the positive results obtained by Yen Bai province during recent years.

As a province regularly affected by natural disasters, floods and storms, Politburo member Mai suggested that Yen Bai focus on directing the implementation of the tasks of socio-economic development, continue to improve the living standard for local people, and resolve policies for ethnic minority groups.

It is also crucial to enhance the work of building a strong Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front and mass organisations, she noted.
