The Politburo member suggested that the city should continue to review and supplement its master plan on socio-economic development to build Son La into a modern city, while preserving its ethnic culture, and become a 'second-class city' by 2019.

The city also needs to expand its urban space and complete its traffic, water supply and treatment, and electricity infrastructure, in addition to developing various types of tourism.

The NA official also told the city to pay greater attention to the transfer of economic structure, education and training, social issues and the living standards of the locals.

The city is working to complete a number of infrastructure projects on building rural roads to 100% of its communes, as well as water and electricity supply projects for 100% of its residents, and others.

Son La has also outlined detailed planning of the Chieng Sinh - Na San urban area and Chieng Ngan new urban area, while submitting the record on the building of the second-class city to the Ministry of Construction for approval.

The city leaders also proposed that the State should allocate capital for the city to carry out projects on flood drainage and prevention in Nam La spring and the building of a reservoir in Mong village, Hua La commune, among others.
