Over the past 20 years, the social organisation has gathered scientists and dedicated and responsible professionals. The VUPDA is particularly interested in counselling, criticism and social expertise in urban planning and development. The association is scheduled to make more effective contributions to the urban development of Vietnam.

Addressing the meeting, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly praised the association’s contributions to the country's development over the past 20 years, especially in the field of urban planning and development.

The PM affirmed that the Party, State, Government and Prime Minister always pay attention to the fields of consultancy, planning and urban development, which is considered as an important task in the process of national development. The PM hoped that the VUPDA’s members would be aware of the responsibility for the development of the country, to implement the plan of green, clean and ecological urban development. He emphasised that, whether in towns or townships, urban planning and development should also be executed effectively.

The PM suggested that the Association actively works in advising the central level, directly contributes scientific and persuasive ideas in the field of urban planning and development, and contribute solutions to pollution limitation, traffic jams and the lack of trees in urban areas. It is necessary to apply science and technology in the field of urban planning and development in the industrial revolution, and capture modern trends in the world and practically apply them in the country, aiming to develop Vietnam's urban areas in line with global standards.

The PM hoped that the association would contribute more to the development of the country with the motto of solidarity, aspiration and creativity and develop Vietnam’s urban areas in the direction of being intelligent, green and sustainable. The PM asked the Ministry of Construction to pay attention to the opinions of VUPDA in its activities. He asked the association to study urban planning and development models in line with modern trends, which can withstand the impacts of climate change and are recognised internationally.
