Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Day held in Hai Phong

The Indian Embassy held the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day in the northern port city of Hai Phong on January 3.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thanh said India has trained 30 local officials in the fields of foreign language, information technology and others, who have served as a bridge between the two countries.

He expressed wish that the Indian government would continue providing scholarships for trainees in Vietnam and Hai Phong in particular.

Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Parvathanesi Harish said ITEC programme is a successful joint work between Vietnam and India, covering agriculture, information technology, communications, insurance and finance.

Harish wished that India would acquire trainees’ demand to design more suitable training programmes.

ITEC is an overseas scholarship programme for State officials aged from 24-45 who have at least five years of experience and are yet to study in India. It will last from 2 to 52 weeks.
