Under the MoU, which was built based on mutual respect, equality and win-win benefits, the two sides will step up cooperation in such fields as human resources, education and training, culture, sports and tourism, trade and services.
At the meeting, Chairman Chung stressed the importance of Vietnam – Finland bilateral relationships, expressing his delight that the two countries have maintained a fine friendship and intensified ties in politics, trade, investment, and cultural exchanges, as well as in international issues.
At the local level, Hanoi city and the South Ostrobothnia region have seen significant cooperation outcomes in trade, education, vocational training, and cultural exchanges.
Mentioning the freshly-signed MoU between the Hanoi city authorities and the Ostrobothnia Regional Council, Chairman Chung said that the document will contribute to strengthening the bilateral cooperation achievements in the future.
He called for extended cooperation in fields that Finland and Ostrobothnia region have advantages in, such as social welfare, investment and trade promotion, smart cities, and environmental pollution treatment.
For his part, Pontinen noted with pleasure that, after a decade of cooperation, Hanoi and South Ostrobothnia have achieved encouraging outcomes across various fields, adding that the MoU will consolidate the friendship between the two localities as well as the two countries.
He suggested that the two sides promote partnerships in labour training, education and training, culture, sports and tourism in order to realise the signed agreements, thus contributing to fostering socio-economic development between the two localities and countries.
