NDO - A get-together was held on February 9 at a village temple on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City with the attendance of former revolutionaries and officials who used to work in the city.

The meeting was attended by Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh, HCMC Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan, former Deputy PM Truong Vinh Trong, former HCMC Secretary le Thanh Hai, former Vice President Truong My Hoa and former HCMC Chairman Le Hoang Quan and other former senior leaders.

Speaking at the get-together, HCMC Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong recalled the glorious revolutionary tradition of the city, also known in the past as Saigon, Cho Lon and Gia Dinh.

He expressed the deep gratitude of the Ho Chi Minh City government and people towards the veteran revolutionaries for their devotion to the development of the city and the country as a whole.

Phong stated that building on that spirit, the city recorded many important results in 2018, maintaining its position as the economic engine of Vietnam.

He added that the city will mobilise all resources and implement synchronous measures in 2019 in order to achieve a growth rate of 8.3-8.5% and build HCMC into a smart and creative city.
