Thanh Hoa marks its 990th founding anniversary

A grand ceremony was held at Lam Son Square in the northern central province of Thanh Hoa on May 8 to celebrate the locality’s 990th founding anniversary (1029-2019).

The event was attended by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, former Presidents Tran Duc Luong and Truong Tan Sang, along with other Politburo members: Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Organisation Pham Minh Chinh, and Secretary of Hanoi municipal Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai; among others.

Speaking at the ceremony, PM Phuc emphasised that Thanh Hoa people, with their revolutionary tradition and patriotism, have always been diligent and creative in working as well as brave and heroic in resistance wars, achieving many glorious victories in the anti-foreign aggression history of the Vietnamese people.

He appreciated the great achievements that the province has gained over recent years, noting that they will be the basis for fast and steady development in the near future.

The Government leader asked the provincial Party Committee, government and people to focus on implementing five growth pillars of processing and manufacturing industries, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, urbanisation and infrastructure.

He also stressed the importance of investment in education and training, high-quality human resources, and the shift in labour structure in combination with vocational training.

At the ceremony, an art programme, with the participation of 500 artists, actors and actresses, delighted delegates and audience members.
