The parliament’s Secretary-General Nguyen Hanh Phuc announced the planned agenda at a meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on July 16.
He asked the government and the agencies concerned to confirm their plan soon to put forward to parliament several matters including the ratification of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement and the Investment Protection Agreement as well as the revisions to current laws to implement the two agreements.
The National Assembly’s Secretary-General also proposed shortening or even abolishing discussions in small groups due to modest effectiveness while increasing time for discussions before the gathering of all the parliament members.
To prepare for the upcoming meeting, Phuc also suggested minimising printed documents and upgrading the software to provide the necessary materials to members of parliament on their electronic devices.
At its previous plenary meeting, the National Assembly adopted 7 laws and 10 resolutions and discussed a further 9 laws.
The legislative body also discussed socio-economic reports, budget reports and other important reports as well as conduct supervisory and question-and-answer sessions, which attracted wide public attention.
