Politburo member urges for active implementation of Party’s scientific and education work

Party committees have been urged to focus on key tasks to boost active implementation of Party’s scientific and education work in the remainder of this year.

Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, made the requirement while co-chairing a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam in Hanoi on July 18 to review the Party science and education work in the first six months of 2019.

Representatives from relevant authorities and localities reported on the effectiveness of close coordination in the dissemination and education of the Party’s documents relating to the work, focusing on current emerging social issues in education and training, public healthcare, children protection and environmental protection.

They agreed that monitoring and coordination between the Commission and other agencies in the field has achieved positive results, creating positive changes in linking scientific and education activities with practice, with almost all fields in the science and education sector having made progress in the right direction, resulting in the deployment of various models, projects and topics on family, environmental sanitation and food safety.

Regarding the tasks for the last six months of the year, the Commission targeted to complete projects on summarising and reviewing several Party resolutions and directives to submit to the Politburo and Secretariat on schedule, while coordinating with other ministries and agencies to inspect, supervise and promote the implementation of Party resolutions, directives and conclusions.

Praising the results achieved in the first half of the year, Politburo member Thuong urged for boosted coordination until the end of the year in advising the Secretariat to comply the revision of Party document implementation in the field of science and education work, in line with the Party's regulations.

He suggested to improve forecasts to proactively prepare information, while effectively combining work deployment with communications and close coordination in solving problems that arise. According to him, the issues in the field of science and education lay great impact on all social classes, spreading to many regions, so it is necessary to solve social problems in the spirit of objectivity, frankness and looking straight to the core of the problems to promptly handle them.

Emphasising the need to coordinate in advising and building an action programme to deploy the Politburo and Secretariat’s conclusions, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam stressed that the key is to promote better coordination in the work to create a transformation in the perception and action of both the political system and the whole society regarding the role of the Party science and education work.

To promote scientific development, it is necessary to design an appropriate economic mechanism and budget spending for scientific research, even accepting investment risks, he said, urging the Ministry of Education and Training to do better in the teaching of children.
