The deputy PM made the statement during his reception for Hiroshi Hosoi, Chief Executive Officer and President of Japan’s JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation (JX NOEX), in Hanoi on August 21.

The host said that friendly and cooperation relations between Vietnam and Japan are growing finely, substantively and comprehensively with high political trust. Japan is currently a leading economic, trade and investment partner, the largest official development assistance (ODA) provider, the second largest investor, the third largest tourism partner and the fourth largest bilateral trade partner of Vietnam.

Japanese investors in Vietnam are very prestigious and have contributed actively to the country’s socio-economic development, Deputy PM Dung said.

He spoke highly of JX NOEX’s business results in Vietnam, especially in applying technical solutions to improve oil recovery, thus contributing to stabilising Vietnam’s oil exploitation output.

Applauding JX NOEX’s recommendations on cooperation in oil detection, exploration and exploitation, Deputy PM Dung asked the Japanese firm to promptly work with the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group and relevant units on the details. He also recognised JX NOEX’s social security activities, with the company having donated roughly US$2 million to the work in Vietnam.

For his part, Hiroshi Hosoi thanked the Vietnamese government, the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan and Deputy PM Dung for having facilitated JX NEOX’s investment activities in Vietnam since 1992, including oil & gas projects.

In the time ahead, JX NEOX wishes to continue making long-term investments in the Southeast Asian country, not only just in the area of oil & gas exploitation, he stated.
