National symposium discusses 50 years of implementing President Ho Chi Minh's Testament

A national scientific conference on the theme of "50 years of implementing President Ho Chi Minh's Testament” opened in Hanoi on August 28.

The event was held by the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the President's Office.

Speaking at the opening, Politburo member Pham Minh Chinh, who is also the head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, emphasised that the seminar is an opportunity to research and look deeper on the historical value and theoretical significance of the late President’s testament, while evaluating the achievements and limitations that need to be overcome over the 50-year implementation of his divine will.

It is also an opportunity to propagate and encourage all Party members and people of all strata to study and implement Uncle Ho’s teachings, following his’s ideology, morality and style to successfully implement the cause of national renewal, construction and defence, Chinh stated.

Over 60 papers presented at the event clarified the contents and profound values in President Ho Chi Minh's Testament, while evaluating achievements and lessons learned after 50 years implementing his will.

Politburo member Vo Van Thuong, who is also the head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, affirmed that 50 years have passed but the testament of President Ho Chi Minh still has a strong vitality and his values live on today. He also stressed that the document is always the torch to continue illuminating Vietnam’s revolutionary path, as well as a source of encouragement for generations of Vietnamese people to continue striving for new triumphs.

On Wednesday evening, a special art programme named Sao Doc Lap (Independence Star) was held at the Hanoi Opera House, featuring art performances and exchanges with senior revolutionaries, businesspersons and outstanding students. The delegates shared their love to the homeland, the country and beloved President Ho Chi Minh at the event, as well as memories from the arduous revolutionary struggle in the past and efforts to assert the Vietnam’s intellect brand in the new era.

At the event, Politburo member and Secretary of Hanoi Municipal Party Committee, Hoang Trung Hai, presented gifts to revolutionary veterans and families with meritorious services to the nation from Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Ha Nam and Bac Giang. Earlier, the organisers and donors also visited Thai Binh province to give presents to 150 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and nine martyrs' families.

On August 28, an exhibition themed “President Ho Chi Minh: Life and Career through Vietnamese and International Archival Records” opened at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi, showcasing more than 100 documents and images about President Ho Chi Minh’s life and career selected from archival and cultural agencies of Vietnam, the US, Russia and France.

Also on Wednesday, the Information and Communications Publishing House in collaboration with the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site in the Presidential Palace and the State Records Management and Archives Department of Vietnam introduced a book named "President Ho Chi Minh: Life and Career from Vietnamese and Archival Records". The book is printed in four languages, Vietnamese, English, French and Russian. It introduces more than 100 documents and images on President Ho Chi Minh's life and revolutionary career selected from archives in Vietnam, Russia, France and the US.

A conference on "Vietnam Farmers’ Association - 50 years of implementing President Ho Chi Minh's Testament and building the model of farmers in the national industrialisation, modernization and international integration” was held in Hanoi on August 28.

A seminar was also held the same day in Bac Lieu province to discuss the 50-year implementation of President Ho Chi Minh's Testament among local youths.

The Quang Binh Provincial Youth Union has announced that it is coordinating with the province’s Department of Education and Training to hold a contest for local youths to learns about President Ho Chi Minh's Testament from September 5 to October 20.

On August 28, Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee announced the winners of a two-day stage contest on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and style in 2019. In the final round, there were 18 teams competing in three competitions, including knowledge, storytelling and stage performances about Uncle Ho.
