Vice President attends celebration of Tra Bong and Western Quang Ngai uprising

A ceremony was held in the mountainous district of Tra Bong, in the central province of Quang Ngai, on August 28 to celebrate 60th anniversary of the Tra Bong and Western Quang Ngai Uprising (August 28, 1959-2019).

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh attended the event.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice President highlighted the significance of the Tra Bong and Western Quang Ngai Uprising to the revolutionary movement in the military zone 5 and other localities in the central and southern regions.

She expressed her gratitude to officials and soldiers from armed forces and local people from all ethnic groups who sacrificed and devoted their intellect, strengths and possessions to the uprising.

Vice President Thinh asked the Party Committee, authorities and people of Quang Ngai province to pay more attention to strengthening socio-economic development, particularly in the mountainous localities.

She also emphasised the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values of ethnic minority groups.

At the ceremony, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh presented the Labour Order, second class, to Tra Bong district.

On the occasion, the gong art form of Cor ethnic minority group in Tra Bong district was also honoured as a national intangible cultural heritage.

In the afternoon of the same day, the Vice President visited and presented gifts to children at Vo Hong Son Centre for Children with disabilities in Cho Chua town, Nghia Hanh district, Quang Ngai province. She also donated VND80 million to build a playground at Pho Cuong Kindergarten in Duc Pho district.
