The event held in Algiers, the capital city of Algeria, on September 2 saw the presence of nearly 500 guests, including ministers and high-ranking officials of the host country, ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic corps, international organisations and Overseas Vietnamese in Algeria.

Addressing the function, Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Pham Quoc Tru highlighted the significance of the August Revolution and briefed the guests on the remarkable achievements of Vietnam over the past 74 years under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

He emphasised the time-honoured traditional friendship between Vietnam and Algeria and hailed the closer cooperation between two countries in all fields.

The diplomat also expressed his thanks to the Algerian Government and people for their valuable support for Vietnam over the years.

At the ceremony, 14 Algerian individuals were presented with certificates from Vietnam’s Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism in recognition of their contributions to boosting Vietnamese martial arts in Algeria and several African countries in recent years.

At a similar celebration held on September 1 by the Vietnamese Embassy in Tanzania, Ambassador Nguyen Kim Doanh highlighted Vietnam’s socio-economic, cultural, defence, and diplomatic achievements 74 years after regaining independence and implementing President Ho Chi Minh’s testament.

Reviewing the situation of Overseas Vietnamese communities and businesses in Tanzania and East African countries since the beginning of 2019, Ambassador Doanh called on them to promote solidarity and work harder to gain further success.

Participants at the event were invited to enjoy traditional musical performances and taste delicious dishes of Vietnam.
