During his talks with WFTU President Mzwandile Michael Makwayiba in Ho Chi Minh City, Khang said over the past 70 years, Vietnam’s trade union has proven itself as an active and responsible member of the federation.

The official briefed his guest on changes in Vietnam’s trade union which, he said, has brought into full play its role in caring for and protecting legitimate and legal rights and interests of labourers, and building progressive and harmonious relations in businesses.

He thanked the WFTU and President Makwayiba for assigning Vietnam to host the 18th World Trade Union Congress slated for 2021, and pledged that the VGCL will make all-out efforts in the holding of the event, helping promote Vietnam’s position and image to international friends.

For his part, Makwayiba affirmed that Vietnam is an important member of the WFTU and the selection of the country as the venue of the 18th World Trade Congress aims to send a message of peace and solidarity to the world.

The WFTU leader expressed his hope that the VGCL will successfully host the event, saying he will elect Khang as WFTU Vice President for the next term.

Makwayiba urged the VGCL to step up cooperation with the WFTU and play a more active role in activities of the federation.
