The land is home to numerous heroes, celebrities and famous intellectuals, especially the two world cultural celebrities Nguyen Du and President Ho Chi Minh, he added.

89 years ago, workers in Vinh - Ben Thuy industrial park and farmers in the surrounding areas stood up for the Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Movement (1930-1931), which is considered as the first rehearsal of the Vietnamese Revolution under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam towards the victory of the August Revolution in 1945.

During the resistance war against the American imperialism, Ben Thuy was one of the important north-south arteries.

Over the past years, particularly during the Doi Moi (Renewal) period, the Party Committee and people of the two provinces have upheld the glorious tradition and solidarity to develop the localities to be more prosperous and beautiful as per the wishes of the beloved President Ho Chi Minh.

On the occasion, Politburo member Tran Quoc Vuong, on behalf of the organising board, presented 200 gifts worth a total of VND600 million to needy people from the two provinces.
