National Assembly Standing Committee convenes 37th meeting

The National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) opened its 37th meeting on September 9 to discuss 12 laws and prepare for the parliament’s upcoming plenary session.

Among the 12 laws on the agenda, four are expected to be approved by the law-making body at its next meeting while the other eight will undergo their first reading.

The NASC members will also express their opinions on a resolution on a socio-economic development plan for ethnic, mountainous, remote and extremely disadvantaged regions for the 2021-2015 period.

In addition, the committee will weigh up the need to introduce a resolution on managing and using funds collected from disinvestment in State-owned enterprises, and discuss a draft decree on customs procedures so as to implement ASEAN Protocol 7 on the customs transit system.

As part of its two-week meeting, the NASC will also deliberate on several important reports and make decisions on the re-organisation of a number of administrative units.

Sa Pa district, where the resort town of Sa Pa is located, is expected to be upgraded to a district-level town while a number of rural communes in Quang Ninh and Hai Duong provinces will be upgraded to urban wards under newly established towns.
