Politburo member Minh made the statement while attending a ceremony hosted by the NHE in Hanoi on September 10 to mark the hospital’s 50th founding anniversary (September 16, 1969-2019) and receive the Labour Order, first class, a noble award from the Party and State.

The deputy PM congratulated and spoke highly of the unceasing efforts and significant results achieved by the NHE’s doctors, medical workers and employees over recent years.

He asked the NHE to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment and consider the patients as the centre, taking the patients’ satisfaction as a measure of the standard for each medical worker, thus becoming a trusted address for people with sickness.

The hospital should be more active in scientific research and training, especially transferring technology to the satellite and local-level hospitals, in addition to accelerating international cooperation to receive support and learn from experience of advanced countries in training doctors and treatment research, Deputy PM Minh said.

He urged the NHE to strengthen communication and raise public awareness of prevention, screening and early detection of diabetes and thyroid cancer so that the people have a better understanding of the risks of these diseases.

On the occasion, Deputy PM Minh presented the Labour Order, first class to the NHE in recognition of the hospital’s outstanding achievements over the past few years.

Addressing the ceremony, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Tran Ngoc Luong, Director of the NHE, said that after 50 years of construction and development, the hospital has achieved many significant accomplishments across various spheres. Beginning with only 30 beds, the NHE has now accommodated a total of 1,079 inpatient beds with more than 900 doctors, medical workers and employees, who are working in 42 clinical and subclinical faculties and functional rooms.

An important highlight which has significantly contributed to the success of the NHE is the endoscopic thyroid surgical technology developed by Assoc. Prof., Dr. Tran Ngoc Luong, one of the techniques improving the NHE’s reputation, both at home and abroad.
