Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Defence Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich stressed that the Vietnam – Laos friendship and special relations were founded by Vietnam’s President Ho Chi Minh and Lao Presidents Kaysone Phomvihane and Souphanouvong, and nurtured by generations of Party and State leaders as well as the people of the two countries.

The relationship has become an invaluable asset shared and preserved by the two Parties, States, peoples and armies, he said.

He reaffirmed that the presentation of the orders aimed to recognise significant contributions made by the LPA to the great traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries and armies.

For his part, Lao Minister of National Defence General Chansamone Chanyalath emphasised that it was an honour for LPA and its soldiers to receive the Vietnamese accolades, particularly when the country marked the 70th traditional day of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts in Laos (October 30, 1949-2019).

He also took the occasion to express his thanks to the Vietnamese Party, State, people and army for their consistent support for the LPA, which has helped to tightening the bilateral ties.

At the ceremony, Minister Ngo Xuan Lich presented other medals to 53 collectives and 35 individuals of the LPA.
