Ca Mau province urged to promote local potentials

The Mekong River Delta province of Ca Mau shouldexert greater effort to fully tap and take advantage of its potentials to boost the local socio-economic development.

Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh made the statement while working with leaders of Ca Mau province on November 19.

Speaking at the working session, the Deputy PM appreciated the achievements in all fields that the province has gained over the past years.

He listened and acknowledged the provincial leaders’ proposals on the fields related to natural disaster prevention, adaptation to climate change, prevention and control of African swine fever, investment attraction, transport, agricultural and rural development, natural resources, environment and new-style rural areas.

Deputy PM Binh assigned ministries and agencies to coordinate with the province to study and propose effective measures to solve the issues in Ca Mau.

The province needs to identify key commodities and take advantage of each locality for the sake of sustainable development, while speeding up the construction of wind power projects and promoting tourism development, he added.

The Deputy PM also asked the local leaders to pay strongattention to the definite settlement of prolonged complaints and grievances in the province; enhance dialogues with people; pay great attention to fire prevention and fighting; and strictly manage and control smuggling and commercial fraud.

Earlier on the same day, Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh visited several policy beneficiary families and revolutionary contributors in the province as well as patients at Ca Mau Provincial General Hospital.
