PM hails contributions by female leaders and NA deputies

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception in Hanoi on November 20 for female leaders and National Assembly (NA) deputies.

The event was also attended by Politburo members: NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Organisation Pham Minh Chinh; Secretary of the PCC and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Truong Thi Mai; Deputy PMs Truong Hoa Binh and Vuong Dinh Hue; and NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong; among others.

Speaking at the reception, the Government leader emphasised that the female leaders and NA deputies, who have dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to the country, are talented, intelligent and enthusiastic.

He also noted that the Party, State and people would never forget the great contributions and sacrifices made by heroic Vietnamese mothers to the cause of national construction and defence.

The Prime Minister was pleased to say that the country has the first female NA leader and three female Politburo members in the 2016-2021 tenure. In addition, over 27% of the nearly 500 NA deputies are women, a relatively high rate compared to other countries in the region and the world.

At NA’s sessions, female deputies have ebulliently contributed their ideas, expressing their important roles. Their comments, questions, criticisms, and debates were profound and frank, towards the best things for voters, people and the country.

He expressed his hope that the female leaders and NA deputies would continue to support the Government in setting and promoting strategies and measures to develop the nation, especially the effective implementation of laws such as the Law against Domestic Violence, the Law on Gender Equality, the Law on Marriage and Family, the Law on Children.

At the meeting, female deputies said that the special attention from the PM and other Party and State leaders were greatencouragement for them to fulfill the assigned tasks.

The female deputies also appreciated the Government and its members in listening and acquiring their comments and proposals.

They also wished that the Party, State and the PM would pay close attention to increasing the number of female ministers and deputy ministers as well as to personnel work for the party congresses at all levels and the election of NA and People’s Council deputies at all levels next year.
