After five successful years, the Steering Committee on External Information Service Affairs, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, and the Vietnam Television (VTV) held a press conference in Hanoi on November 27 to announce this year’s awards.

The 2019 National External Information Service Awards, organised by the Steering Committee on External Information Service Affairs, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, in coordination with VTV, continue to recognise and honour outstanding authors, press works, and books in the external information sector. VTV is the standing agency of this year’s awards.

Speaking at the press conference, Bui Truong Giang, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, affirmed that in 2019, Vietnam attained multiple important and comprehensive achievements in socio-economic development and strengthened foreign relations and comprehensive integration. The country has also made positive and internationally recognised contributions to multilateral foreign mechanisms and activities.

These successes contributed to affirming the country’s open foreign policy and affirming that Vietnam is a friend and reliable partner in the international community. At the same time, they are a rich source of information and materials, as well as an inspiration for authors to produce valuable works which serve Vietnam’s external information service effectively, Giang affirmed.

Giang, who is also the deputy head of the Steering Committee on External Information Service Affairs, noted that after five years, the external information service awards have increasingly drawn attention and encouraged the participation of journalists from both domestic and international publications.

He stated that the awards contribute to promoting the political, diplomatic, economic, cultural, and social achievements of the country, and introduce Vietnam as a dynamic, proactive country actively integrating into the international community where it is a responsible member.

For this year’s awards, submissions can be in any language and must be published in the forms of an article of printed newspaper, online newspaper and website (licenced by competent agencies), radio broadcast, television broadcast, press photo, landscape photo, or book.
