Vietnam Youth Federation convenes eighth national congress

The eight National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Federation (VYF), for 2019-2024 tenure, officially commenced at the Hanoi Convention Centre on December 11.

The event was attended by former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh as well as Politburo members: permanent member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee (PCC) Tran Quoc Vuong; Secretary of the PCC and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Truong Thi Mai; and Secretary of the PCC and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Education and Communication; among others.

Speaking at the congress, Politburo member Tran Quoc Vuong affirmed that the Party and State always put the youth at the central position in the strategy of fostering and promotinghuman resources.

He appreciated the achievements that Vietnamese youths and the VYF have gained over the past tenures as well as asked the Federation to drastically renovate the contents and methods of its operations to improve the quality and efficiency of the revolutionary movements of the youths.

The Federation should enhance the communication, education, encouragement, support and orientation of young people in improving their knowledge, skills and bravery to serve the country and people, the Politburo member added.

Politburo member Vuong noted that the youth unions at all levels should proactively and positively organise movements to study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology and morality as well as to build new civilised lifestyles.

He also emphasised the necessity to develop the Federation stronger and improve the quality of its staff at all levels.
