Prime Minister attends 120th founding anniversary celebration of Dai Loc District

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended a ceremony held in Quang Nam Province on December 14 to celebrate the 120th founding anniversary of the province’s Dai Loc District (1899-2019).

Established under the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945), Dai Loc District is home to many celebrated writers, poems, and scientists. The land also has heroic tradition in fighting against foreign invaders.

Back in the days of French rule in Vietnam, Dai Loc was one of places to respond to the call of Can Vuong (Save the King) Movement (1885 – 1889), which was launched to fight against French colonial rule.

The district also served as a fierce battlefield during the country’s two resistance wars against the French and the US.

Addressing the ceremony, Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee hailed to glorious 120-year history of Dai Loc District, calling 160,000 local residents to uphold the tradition and promote creativity and innovation in fostering the development of the locality.

He asked for further efforts to build new-style rural area, unlock tourism potential and improve the locals’ livelihoods.

At the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc presents gift to the district’s authorities. He also handed over 10 social houses to people living in difficult circumstances in the district.
