Women's Union Central Committee convenes seventh sitting

The Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) Central Committee convened for its seventh sitting in Hanoi on December 18, under the chair of its president, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha.

Delegates at the conference reviewed the mid-term evaluation of task implementation set by the 11th VWU National Congress, VWU’s work results in 2019 and key tasks for 2020, as well as discussing the draft VWU’s Development Strategy for 2022-2027, with a vision to 2035 as well as strengthening the personnel of the union’s central executive committee.

Speaking at the event, VWU President Ha stated that during the past half term (2017-2022), the VWU Central Committee has closely followed the country's political duties, focusing on renovating the content and mode of operation in the direction of promoting the creativity of its units at all levels, as well as the role of women and the coordination and support of other relevant authorities to well implement its tasks, thereby exceeding the set targets for the term.

Reviewing the positive results made by VWU during the past two years, Ha said that her union has well implement communication and education work to help realise the Party and State's major policies related to women.

The VWU has expanded effective saving models to provide loans to women, with savings balance reaching more than VND4.9 trillion with 8 million members participating. It established 196 new cooperatives across the nation, while developing 18 livelihood models for disadvantaged women in bordering and extremely unstable communes in 14 provinces, helping over 400,000 women nationwide.

The VWU Central Committee has signed 36 cooperation agreements with relevant ministries, departments, agencies and organisations, focusing on scientific research, protection for women and girls and the prevention of plastic waste.

A range of important events for women and children nationwide have been launched, including the launch of the "National Safety Year for Women and Children", scientific conferences and forums to exchange experiences and solutions towards ensuring the safety of women and girls, and expanding effective safety models for women and children nationwide.
