Activities nationwide and abroad mark 75th anniversary of Vietnamese People’s Army

An exhibition on achievements in building the whole-people defence and people’s armed forces, and the 2019 Viet Bac Fair, officially opened in the northern province of Thai Nguyen on December 20, under the presence of Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue.

The event was one of many occasions to mark the 75th founding anniversary of Vietnamese People’s Army and 30th Whole-People Defence Festival (December 22).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy PM Hue noted that the exhibition would promote the revolutionary tradition, the sacrifice and noble qualities of the Vietnamese army, he added.

In addition to glorious victories during wars against the invaders, the exhibition and fair introduced the armed forces’ achievements in regards to economic development as well as helping people in remote and bordering areas eradicate hunger and reduce poverty, said the Deputy PM.

The fair features the specialties from provinces in the Viet Bac region in the past, including Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen and Cao Bang.

The exhibition and fair will last until December 25.

* On the same day, Phan Dinh Trac, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and head of the PCC's Commission for Internal Affairs, visited officials and soldiers in Phuoc Chi Border Guard in the southern province of Tay Ninh.

On the occasion, he and the working delegation also visited and presented 40 gifts to policy beneficiary families and poor households as well as 20 bicycles to students in three border communes of Phuoc Chi, Phuoc Luu and Binh Thanh, in Trang Bang district.

* A delegation of Quang Binh provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front paid tribute to General Vo Nguyen Giap, the first Commander-in-Chief of Vietnamese People's Army, at his tomb in Vung Chua, Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district.

* Various ceremonies were held in Ha Tinh, Dong Nai and Binh Duong provinces to mark the 75th anniversary of People’s Army and 30th Whole-People Defence Festival.

Meanwhile, Thua Thien – Hue and Dak Lak provinces organised exhibitions on the glorious revolution of the country and the People’s Army as well as highlighting the determination of the entire country to develope the peoples defence and armed forces to grow increasingly stronger, contributing to building and firmly protecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

* Also occurring yesterday, the Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique hosted a meeting of officers and soldiers from Movitel Company, a joint venture of Vietnam's military-run Viettel telecom group in the country.

The event aimed to honour the admirable values of Vietnamese soldiers as well as inspire the spirit of working among officers and soldiers of the company, contributing to promoting the unity between people and army soldiers in the overseas Vietnamese community in the host country.

At the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique Le Huy Hoang appreciated the development of the Movitel company over the past seven years, bringing many economic benefits to the country and promoting the image of the land and people of Vietnam to the host country.
