The conference was chaired by General To Lam, Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Police's Party and Minister of Public Security.

Speaking at the conference, PM Phuc applauded and showed his appreciation for the great efforts and contributions of the sector towards national achievements, as well as honouring officers and soldiers who have surmounted struggles to outstandingly complete their assigned tasks.

The public security forces should identify risks and threats to national interests, political security and social order and safety, and timely provide consultations for the Party and the State in major strategic policies, guidelines and solutions to deal with issues regarding security and safety, he noted.

The Government leader also urged the sector to renovate its operation, and take a proactive approach in preventing and countering sabotage schemes and activities of hostile forces and terrorists, as well as effectively coping with non-traditional security threats and gradually cracking down on crimes to ensure political security in any circumstances.

In his opening speech, Minister To Lam stated that the 75th national public security conference aimed to review and assess the implementation of public security work in 2019, as well as evaluating the results of 30 years of implementing the national development platform according to the functions and tasks of the public security force.

It also targeted to study and thoroughly grasp the implementation of resolutions adopted by the Central Committee of the Police's Party, and the Ministry of Public Security's Directive on the task of police work in 2020.
