National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Nganmade the statement at an online conference held by the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) to devise its tasks for 2020, in Hanoi on December 25.

The event was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and leaders of central agencies, provinces and centrally-runcities.

Addressing the conference, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan reviewed the outstanding socio-economic achievements in 2019, including important contributions of the labour, invalids and social affairs sector.

The Chairwoman said that in 2019, along with completing three breakthrough goals, the sector also fulfilled two priorities, including resolving the backlog in recognising revolutionary contributors and improving the care and protection of children.

She also asked the MoLISA to continue paying attention to gender equality work, in which the main subjects are women and children, aiming to close the gender gap; ensure gender equality in the overall socio-economic and family activities. It is necessary to strengthen the work of inspection and supervision of the implementation of policies and laws; focus on handling and making clear changes to pressing social issues interested by voters and NA deputies.

On behalf of the Government and the Prime Minister, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam thanked NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan for paying great attention to labour, invalids and social affairs.

According to the Deputy PM, the sector of labour, invalids and social affairs has many task groups, such as hunger eradication, poverty reduction, labour-employment creation.

Achievements of the labour, invalids and social affairs sector in 2019 are not only thanks to the efforts of the sector, but also thanks to the close coordination of ministries, branches, Vietnam Fatherland Front and organisations.

Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam suggested the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs and other ministries and branches continue to coordinate closely with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the organisations to implement the tasks in 2020.
