The statement was released by Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee (PCC) Tran Quoc Vuong at a conference held by the Supreme People’s Procuracy in Hanoi on December 27 to revise tasks for 2020.

Speaking at the conference, Politburo member Vuong appreciated the contributions made by judicial agencies, including the procuracy sector, to the country’s socio-economic development, over the past years.

The sector has actively renovated its leadership and direction to gain comprehensive results in all fields, while enhancing prosecution responsibilities in investigative activities, he added.

The Politburo member said that the Supreme People’s Procuracy has coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security, the Supreme People's Court and the PCC Commission for Internal Affairs to remove many difficulties and obstacles as well as apply procedural measures to clarify criminal acts and to recover assets for the State, especially serious and complicated corruption and economic cases.

The procuracy sector has also proactively worked with the ministries, agencies and committees of the National Assembly in developing bills and legal documents guiding the implementation of new laws related to judicial activities, he emphasised.

According to Politburo member Vuong, it is crucial to pay strong attention to raising the responsibilities and bravery of the procuracy sector to contribute to the cause of corruption prevention and control, which has been identified as a major policy of the Party and State.

The sector should exercise the right to prosecution in association with investigation activities as well as actively participate in the investigation process, especially for complicated corruption and economic cases, he noted.

The Politburo member asked the procuracy sector to pay strong attention to the education and training of supervisors with revolutionary ethics, bravery, experience, high compatibility and enthusiasm as well as good professionalism.

He stressed the importance of building strong and clean Party organisations in the sector, ensuring the maintenance of the principle of democratic centralism.
