Politburo member Thuong urged development of Vietnamese stage arts

The Vietnam Association of Stage Artists (VASA) should thoroughly grasp the resolutions, directives and regulations on arts and literature as well as closely follow the setup specific plans towards the development of Vietnamese stage arts, meeting the requirement of society and the current era.

Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communication and Education Vo Van Thuong made the statement at the ninth National Congress of the VASA, for 2019-2024, in Hanoi on January 13.

Speaking at the congress, Politburo member Thuong hailed the achievements made by the VASA over the past tenure, as they significantly contributed to the national construction, defence and the countries development.

The VASA should continue to uphold their spirit for self-reliance and creation, as well as boost further socialisation. They should also expand international exchanges to learn and absorb the the world’s culture to enrich the country’s stage arts and promote the image of the land and people of Vietnam to the world, he noted.

It is essential to pay much attention to training young artists as well as creating favourable conditions for art and legal corridors for artists to promote their creativity, added the Politburo member.

The congress featured the participation of over 420 delegates representing nearly 2,500 members of the association. A 21-member Executive Committee of the VASA was elected and People’s Artist Trinh Thuy Mui was chosen as the association's President for the 2019-2024 tenure.
