The event was chaired by Politburo member, Secretary of the PCC and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Organisation Pham Minh Chinh.

The press awards, named Bua Liem Vang (Golden Hammer & Sickle), aim to continue affirming the position and important role of Party building work as well as to encourage the whole Party, people and army to implement the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress and the PCC’s directives and conclusions.

The awards will be implemented by the PCC’s Commission for Organisation, Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, Tap chi Cong San (Communist Review), Vietnam Television and Vietnam Journalists’ Association.

At the meeting, the delegates discussed the renewals in the communication of Party building this year, especially the reflection of the preparations and organisations of Party congresses at all levels towards the 13th National Party Congress.

The delegates also agreed on the criteria for entries, voting and awarding prizes, particularly the new awards for the most outstanding works on Party congress and fighting for "peaceful evolution" and those by overseas Vietnamese.

Speaking at the meeting, Politburo member Pham Minh Chinh said that it is crucial to continue improving the quality and efficiency of the 2020 National Press Awards on Party building.

The entries should highlight the Party's leadership and direction in all fields as well as honour the journalists who have made significant contributions in the communication of Party building work, he added.
