Speaking at the conference, PM Phuc affirmed that the Party has always paid due attention to agriculture, rural areas and farmers.

The master plan has been implemented quite well from central to local levels, he noted, adding that production has grown in a rapid, stable and diverse manner, meeting the people’s demand for food and foodstuffs.

In recently years, Vietnam has focused on restructuring agriculture and promoting advantages in the sector, as well as having applied scientific and technological solutions to cope with climate change and natural disasters, the PM said.

The Government leader also underscored the important goals for 2030 including meeting the nutritional needs of over 104 million people; restructuring agricultural production and striving to achieve an export growth of 9-10% per year; reaching export revenue of US$100 billion in 2030, thereby becoming one of world’s top 10 most developed agricultural nations; as well as increasing forest coverage and ensuring water security.

He also asked relevant authorities to implement measures aimed at increasing the amount of breeding stock, stabilising food prices and preventing disease whilemeeting demand.
