Overseas Vietnamese donate medical equipment to Czech hospitals

Overseas Vietnamese in the Czech Republic donated protective health supplies on April 15 to two nursing homes in Praha 5 and Praha 8 District to aid Covid-19 prevention and control.

The events were attended by the Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Ho Minh Tuan, President of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe (UVAE) Hoang Dinh Thang, Chairman of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic Nguyen Duy Nhien, Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic Tomas Petricek and Czech Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Jana Malacova.

The gifts were among 90,000 specialised medical masks that the Overseas Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic and Saparia Joint Stock Company donated to the Czech Government in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The masks and a dozen tonnes of protective medical equipment were transported from Vietnam on a flight conducted by Vietnam’s Bamboo Airways to carry over 280 Czech and European citizens home on March 25.

For his part, Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic Petricek expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Vietnamese community in the country for their support of the Czech government and people.

The Czech Foreign Minister also highly appreciated the close cooperation of the Vietnamese Government in response to the epidemic as Vietnamese functional agencies conducted a flight transporting EU and Czech citizens home as well as treating and caring for Czech people infected by Covid-19.

* Military Zone 5 High Command, handed over the medical supplies and equipment to several units and localities in Laos, in response to Covid-19 epidemic on April 16.

At the occasion, the Military Commands of Da Nang City and Quang Nam Province donated 12 medical equipment packages and essential food worth a total of VND600 million to support the Military Commands of Salavan and Sekong Provinces, Laos.

* Also today, the Vietnamese Embassy, in collaboration with Khmer – Vietnam Association in Cambodia donated 100 gifts in first phase of emergency aid relief to overseas Vietnamese who are living in difficult circumstances in Svay Rolum, Sa Ang District, Kandal Province.

During the first phase of the relief programme, gifts were donated to 1,930 overseas Vietnamese families and others in 25 provinces and cities in Cambodia.
