Various activities celebrate President Ho Chi Minh’s 130th birthday

A wide range of activities have been held nationwide to mark President Ho Chi Minh’s 130th birthday (May 19, 1890-2020).

On May 12, Tuyen Quang Provincial Party Committee’s Commission of Communications and Education held an award ceremony to honour the winners of a contest about "Uncle Ho and Tuyen Quang – the national resistance capital during past resistance wars".

The online contest was held from March 1 to April 29 with four rounds, attracting nearly 110,00 contestants consisting of local students, civil servants, soldiers and workers to learn about the landmarks and historical events which took place in the province and were associated with the activities of President Ho Chi Minh.

The organisers awarded 44 prizes, including four first, eight second, 12 third and 20 consolation prizes.

The contest aims to further promote patriotic emulation movements and the campaign regarding learning and following President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in Tuyen Quang.

* An exhibition is to take place from May 15 to the end of this July at the Vietnam Military History Museum, No. 28A, Dien Bien Phu Street, Hanoi, showcasing typical images and documents reflecting President Ho Chi Minh's leadership, direction and special affection for the Vietnam People's Army.

Themed "Always having Uncle Ho in our hearts," the event also reflects the attention of the Party, State and military leaders in promoting the learning and following of President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, thereby honouring and praising the late leader’s great contribution to the nation, as well as the infinite respect and gratitude of the Vietnamese people for him.

Information on the images, documents and exhibits on President Ho Chi Minh to be introduced at the exhibition will be regularly updated on the museum’s website at http://btlsqsvn.org.vn.

* The Hanoi Youth Union said that the commendation ceremony to honour outstanding local young Party members in the study and following of Uncle Ho's example will take place on May 15 at Hanoi Children's Palace. From 130 nominations, the organising committee has selected 90 young Party members to honour at the event.

The activity is part of a political campaign entitled "Proud of Uncle Ho's generation", and features various activities to educate Youth Union members, youngsters and children in Hanoi about President Ho Chi Minh City’s life and revolutionary career.

Taking place from May 14 to 21, the campaign also includes forums and seminars under the theme of "Uncle Ho with young people” and a painting exhibition on "The capital city's youth following Uncle Ho's teaching".

A special TV show themed "Hanoi youth following Uncle Ho" is planned to be broadcasted live on the Hanoi Radio and Television H1 channel at 9 pm on May 17, introducing the Hanoi Youth Union members’ outstanding works and models deployed since the beginning of 2020 on both COVID-19 prevention and control as well as socio-economic development.
