Hanoi presents medical supplies to New York to help fight COVID-19

The People’s Committee of Hanoi held a ceremony on June 1 to hand over facemasks to representatives of New York in support of the people of New York in their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Addressing the event, Chairman of Hanoi municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said that given the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the US, the spirit of solidarity and mutual support, Hanoi wishes to share part of its resources to help New York authorities and people combat the pandemic.

The medical supplies include 100,000 antibacterial cloth masks and 50,000 medical masks.

Chung expressed his hope that with the efforts and drastic measures being implemented by the US administrationand the cooperation of international community, the US would soon overcome the pandemic.

US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel J. Kritenbrinkcongratulated Vietnam on its achievements in the fight against the pandemic and thanked the Hanoi authorities and people for the gift.

He affirmed that the donated facemasks will help the city in its fight to overcome the pandemic and return to normal life.
