On the afternoon of June 26, Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh joined members of the NA deputy delegation of Long An province in a meeting with voters in Duc Hoa district.

Speaking at meeting, Deputy PM Binh said that from the beginning of 2020, the country has faced multiple difficulties and challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but thanks to the drastic, urgent and comprehensive solutions in all fields from the Party, the State and the Government, up until now, Vietnam has essentially controlled the epidemic and maintained socio-economic stability.

More efforts will be made to revive socio-economic development after the epidemic and bring about breakthroughs in the country's economy during the second half of the year, while not allowing the disease to break out again, Binh affirmed.

From June 24 to 26, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Internal Affairs Phan Dinh Trac met voters in the mountainous districts of Que Phong, Quy Chau, Quy Hop, Tan Ky and Nghia Dan, as well as in Thai Hoa town in Nghe An province.

Trac noted that local authorities should pay special attention to social security supports and effectively carry out the propaganda of the Party and State's policies to local people, especially to those in remote areas.

On the occasion, Trac and the province’s NA deputy delegation presented gifts to 120 disadvantaged households. Vietnam Electricity also donated VND2 billion to support the construction of Nghia Loc Primary School, branch B in Nghia Dan district.

On June 26, Secretary of the PCC and Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Hoa Binh met voters in Tra Xuan town and Tra Bui commune in the Tra Bong district of Quang Ngai province.

Speaking at the meeting, Binh affirmed that Vietnam's achievements over the past few months in effectively coping with the COVID-19 pandemic have been highly lauded by the people and the world in general. The pressing current issue is how to restore the economy after the epidemic, while ensuring stability and the country's economy, he said.

Regarding policies for mountainous areas, Binh said that the NA has issued a resolution on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas toward 2030 which features ten major projects with an investment of about VND104 trillion. This is among multiple important policies, especially for mountainous areas, in order to narrow the gap in living standards and in the incomes of ethnic minorities and those in mountainous areas, including Tra Bong district, relative to the average across the whole country.

On this occasion, Binh presented 10 gifts to disadvantaged children and 10,000 notebooks destined for students in remote areas in Tra Bong district.

Also on June 26, Politburo member and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Education and Communications Vo Van Thuong worked with the Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee on the implementation of local political tasks in the 2015-2020 term and the preparation for and organisation of Party congresses at all levels.

At the meeting, Thuong emphasised that Bac Giang needs to focus and perform well in leading, directing and promoting its socio-economic development tasks in order to fulfil its tasks in 2020 and reach the highest possible results for the 2015-2020 term.

In the afternoon of June 26, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) in Hanoi, the second conference of the VUFO’s Presidium term 2019-2024 took place under the chair of Politburo member and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Truong Thi Mai.
