Top legislator inspects Tuyen Quang’s preparations for elections

Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue had a working session on May 6 with leaders of Tuyen Quang province and the provincial Election Committee regarding their preparations for the upcoming election of deputies to the 15th legislature and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure.

The top legislator, who is Chairman of the National Election Council (NEC), praised the province’s serious and full implementation of all directives and documents issued by the Politburo and the NEC on the preparatory work, highlighting the goal of successfully holding the elections in such a way to promote the people’s right to their own mastery and their associated right to vote in the elections.

All stages of the election activities must be organised in line with the law, he said, asking Tuyen Quang to ensure absolute safety amidst the current complexity of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The NA leader emphasised that all-level Election Committees in Tuyen Quang must carefully review their lists of voters to ensure the election rights of all local residents, while arranging extra ballot boxes to enable people under COVID-19 quarantine, and the elderly and sick who cannot travel to polling places to exercise their civil rights.

Tuyen Quang should continue to update and strive to resolve all complaints and denunciations no later than May 13, as well as properly organise meetings between voters and NA candidates in accordance with the law and pandemic prevention and control measures, he stated.

NA Chairman Hue asked the province to strengthen its media efforts and increase communications on candidate information, while strengthening the application of information technology in organising meetings with voters. He also suggested Tuyen Quang develop a scenario for the organisation of the election day in line with all possible situations of COVID-19 prevention and control, as well as natural disasters.

Together with preparing for the elections, the top legislator also asked Tuyen Quang to focus on effectively implementing the related tasks of combating the pandemic, boosting socio-economic development, and ensuring security and defence.

On the occasion, the NA leader took note of the recommendations and proposals from the province related to public investment, including a project on preserving, restoring and promoting the Tan Trao special national historical relic; another project on the building of the Provincial General Hospital; and the construction the Ha Giang-Tuyen Quang Expressway.

Earlier on the same day, NA Chairman Hue offered incense to President Ho Chi Minh at Na Nua Shack, offered incense at the Tan Trao Communal House, and planted a memorial tree at the Tan Trao special national historical relic in Son Duong district.

He and provincial leaders also presented gifts to 100 policy beneficial families and poor households from communes of the district, under the Vietnam Red Cross Society’s Humanitarian Month 2021 programme.
