PROMOTING BRAND VALUE FROM PAST TO PRESENT

When it comes to stationery, Hong Ha is considered a brand associated with the country’s history from wartime to peacetime, a familiar brand accompanying many generations of Vietnamese students. With products consecutively honoured as a National Brand (2022), Hong Ha Stationery has not only maintained its position as one of the leading brands in the domestic stationery industry but also gradually conquered the international market.

Sixty-five years ago, on October 1, 1959, the Hong Ha Stationery Factory was officially established at No.25 Ly Thuong Kiet Street, Hanoi, which used to be a car repair workshop named Stai of the French. During the years of fierce war, Hong Ha’s products were named after places regarding the country’s historical events. Fountain pens named Cuu Long, Truong Son, Hoan Kiem, and Hong Ha became indispensable items in soldiers' luggage on the battlefield, as well as their support, which were also associated with diary pages of the soldiers' feelings.

When peace was restored, fountain pens became one of the priceless sacred souvenirs that the fallen soldiers left behind for their families and relatives after they laid down their lives for the motherland.

Since the war ended and the economy opened, Hong Ha has been focused on investing in advanced technology and expanding research and development in the production of notebooks, paper products, and office supplies. In 1995, Hong Ha Stationery officially joined Vietnam Paper Corporation, expanding its scope of operations under a new mechanism. As a result of its continuous growth, Hong Ha was named in the list of firms to reach 100 billion VND per year in 2004, after 45 years of its development.

Brand creates strength

Continuing the flow of history, Hong Ha Stationery Joint Stock Company has promoted the values created in the past while also actively researching, innovating products, and building brands to catch up with the trends of the times.

In 2019, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of its establishment, Hong Ha Stationery changed to a new brand identity imbued with tradition as well as international modernity. The change in the new logo is an affirmation of its position as a leading stationery business in Vietnam, always dynamic and modern, keeping up with the trend of the technological revolution with the goal of striving to bring the stationery brand to life as well as reach further into the international arena.

The new brand identity of Hong Ha Stationery is designed with two main colours, white and red. White symbolises beginnings, and red represents enthusiasm, strength and victory. The square logo image surrounding the letter HH is a mark affirming sustainable and professional development.

The two letters HH are also the business' abbreviation, symbolising the connection between the past and the future. Hong Ha wants to preserve the solid foundations of the past while constantly innovating, creating, and making breakthroughs towards the future. The two underscores HH symbolise the Red River associated with the name, 'Hong Ha'.

On the occasion of launching the new brand identity, Hong Ha Stationery opened a showroom at 25 Ly Thuong Kiet with an area of 500 m2, including dozens of specialised booths. Products are arranged scientifically and beautifully with shelves made from environmentally friendly materials, giving customers a convenient and comfortable shopping experience.

Hong Ha Stationery Joint Stock Company has actively developed its brand through meaningful social activities. Always remaining aware of the importance of the brand to the business’s development, Hong Ha Stationery has gradually built, developed, promoted, and spread its brand image more professionally through activities for elementary and middle school students to help them develop in a comprehensive manner, such as the “Young First Doctoral Candidates” Festival and beautiful handwriting contest, Childhood Math Club, the annual painting contest themed “I draw a happy school”, and the playground entitled "Conquering the future".

Besides making efforts for production and the development of its brand, Hong Ha Stationery has also always been interested in community activities. For nearly 30 years, it has been sponsoring Birla Children’s Village in Hanoi. There have been many sponsorship activities for excellent students, poor students who gained outstanding achievements, and students living in difficulties in remote areas and localities affected by natural disasters and floods.
