Cold air forecast to intensify, causing heavy rain in Central region in the next 3 days

The Central region is forecast to experience heavy to very heavy rain from the night of October 15 untilOctober 18, due to the influence of increased cold air combined with a low-pressure area that is likely to appear on the tropical convergence band, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF).

In the northern provinces and Thanh Hoa, rain will continue with the cold air appearing in mountainous areas.

According to the NCHMF, during this rainy season, Nghe An has had total rainfall of 100-200mm per period, with more than 200mm per period in some places.

The area from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien Hue has seen total rainfall of 300-600mm, with more than 600mm per periodin some places. Da Nang and Quang Nam have a common rainfall total of 100-300mm/period, with more than 300mm/period in some areas.

There is a risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas and localised flooding in low-lying and riverside areas.

In addition, due to the influence of cold air intensification, on October 15, the North and Thanh Hoa Province will see moderate to heavy localised rain with rainfall of 20-50mm in 24 hours, and even over 70mm per 24 hours in some places.

In the North and Thanh Hoa, the temperature will rangebetween 19 and 21 degrees Celsius on October 15, and below 18 degrees Celsius in some mountainous areas.
