Cold spell to hit northern region from night of December 1

A spell of cold will grip the northern region from December 1, causing temperatures to drop to 11-14 degrees Celsius, and even as low as 7-10 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas and below 5 degrees Celsius in high mountainous areas.

According to the National Centre for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, cold air with strong intensity is expected to affect northern localities from the night of December 1 and then expand to the northern part of the central region.

In the capital city of Hanoi, the temperature is forecast to drop at night and the early morning, with the days from November 30 to December 8 seeing the lowest temperatures. From the night of December 1, the lowest temperature will continue to decrease further and will average from 11-13 degrees Celsius.

From the morning of November 30, the northeast wind inland gradually increased to level 3, in the coastal area at level 4-5; the Gulf of Tonkin will experience northeast winds of level 6, with gusts of level 8, enclosed by rough seas with 2-3m waves.
