Strong cold spell to hit Northern region

A strong cold spell is forecasted to enter Vietnam on January 28, bringing showers and low temperatures across the northern region, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

The region will be struck by rain and thunderstorms, with whirlwinds, lightning, hail and strong winds, expected in some locations.

Northern and north-central Vietnam will start experiencing biting cold weather from January 29 and lasting through the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

Frost and snow will also be expected in the high mountains.

People are advised to stay updated on the weather forecast and keep warm, especially the elderly and children of mountainous regions.

In addition, according to experts, between January 26-27, a low-pressure system in the southern sea of the Philippines, will enter the eastern part of the East Sea/South China Sea and is likely to strengthen.
