Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Minh Quang praised Nielsen for his role in promoting bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the field of natural resources and the environment.
The award is in recognition of Nielsen’s important contributions to developing and promoting activities related to environment protection and response to climate change in Vietnam, Quang noted.
Vietnam is considered as one of the countries most severely affected by climate change, Quang said, adding that thanks to the significant support of the international community, especially the support of Denmark over the past five years, Vietnam has gained a lot of valuable experience in promoting environmental protection as well as improving responses to climate change.
For his part, Ambassador Nielsen expressed his thanks to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment for the recognition.
He said he is impressed with Vietnam’s efforts in raising the public's awareness of environmental protection and climate change response.
