The project aims to strengthen planning and improve capacity to withstand climate change for land and water resource management in the Mekong Delta.

The sum consists of VND6.9 trillion (US$310 million) in loans from the WB, VND1.6 trillion (US$72.5 million) of reciprocal capital and the remainder from capital mobilisation.

The project will be launched in nine Mekong Delta provinces from 2016 to 2020.

Vietnam is one of the five countries most vulnerable to climate change while the Mekong Delta region, Vietnam’s rice granary, is among the three large deltas in the world worst hit by the weather phenomenon.
