Winner of Green Innovation Awards honoured

The Vietnam Environment Administration (VEA) and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union held the finale of the first Green Innovation Awards and an awards ceremony to honour the winners in Hanoi on December 12.

The awards, designed for three groups — primary and secondary students; high school students; and college as well as university students and those aged between 19 and 30 years, look to seek, introduce, and popularise outstanding initiatives and models on environmental protection and sustainable development.

The organising board received 1,500 entries from individuals and organisations in 50 provinces and cities throughout the country.

The entries focused on energy saving, environmentally-friendly products, biodiversity preservation, waste recycling and treatment, policy solutions, environment education, and application of information-technology in environmental protection and management.

Thirty of the most outstanding entries in the qualifying round were selected for the finale.

Three first prizes were presented to students of Dang Chan Primary School, Son Duong district, Tuyen Quang province, in the primary and secondary students group; students of Van Ban No.4 High School, Lao Cai province, in the high school students group; Z751 enterprise under the General Department of Engineering in college, university students group.

In addition, the organising board also presented six second prizes, nine third prizes, and twelve consolation prizes to other outstanding works.
