Environmental industry set to make bigger contributions to national economy

The environmental industry targets to make more contributions to the national economy by 2025, meeting the country’s demand for protecting the environment and taking steps toward exporting technologies, equipment, services and products related to environmental protection.

The targets were set under the project on developing environmental industry by 2025 which was recently approved by the Prime Minister.

The project gives priorities to developing waste processing and recycling technologies; analysing, monitoring, and dealing with environmental pollution; building technologies for the sustainable use of natural resources and environmental remediation.

It also anticipates that by 2025, the country’s domestic production capacity will meet 70-80% of the demand of water supply and wastewater processing facilities, 60-70% of the demand of solid waste processing and recycling facilities, and 40-50% of the demand of environmental monitoring facilities.

Solutions to developing environmental industry that will be employed under the project include building and promulgating technical standards in the fields, advancing environmental protection technologies, and promoting the sustainable use of natural resources and environmental rehabilitation.
