The centre, which is funded with VND56 billion (US$2.46 million), is under the national target programme on climate change adaptation and green growth.

The centre will cover around 30ha including many facilities such as a smart meteorological station using solar energy, a management house, a research and production workshop, a microbiological processing factory, a drying yard, a cool store, a tree research and experiment area, among others.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Van Thang said that the building of the centre will help Ninh Thuan develop clean agricultural production.

Particularly, locals in Bac Ai district will have opportunities to change the structure of crop plants to green and clean models, which will help save irrigation water and adapt to climate change as well as bringing in high economic efficiency, Thang noted.

The centre, invested in by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Vietnam Academy for Water Resources, is expected to be completed in December 2018.

The project is also scheduled to be carried out in Hai Duong, Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.
