It offered an opportunity for the ASEAN countries to share information on their activities and national policies concerning environmental education.

At the meeting, delegates focused on discussing a number of achievements attained and difficulties remaining in the ASEAN cooperation on environmental education, while working out directions for their future operations in the field.

Accordingly, future activities will include the implementation of programmes pursuant to the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Blueprint 2025, and the action plans of the ASEAN working group on environmental education, in addition to the updating of the ASEAN member countries’ operations on environmental education and the enhancement of cooperation between ASEAN and its development partners.

A variety of other activities are scheduled on the sidelines of the three-day conference, including a workshop on sustainable production and consumption and a field trip in Da Lat, Vietnam’s representative to receive the fourth “ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City” award.

AWGEE 10 is part of the ASEAN cooperation framework on the environment, which is alternatively hosted by the ASEAN member countries.
